Retired
Today is the day I finished
my career as healthcare professional. It has been 45 years since I started work
in the field. There are Lots of experiences, lots of mistakes and lots of achievements.
I still remember my first failed
lumbar puncture, the disappointment and the tears of a newly graduated doctor.
I also remember the treatment I first used in my unit for tuberculosis meningitis,
remembers the first time I wrote an article about the infantile rotaviral
enteritis… I even still remember the day I entered medical school in China. But
now I am retired.
I also remember how hard for
me to get into the nursing program in the United States. I remember my preceptors
who taught me how to be a neonatal intensive care nurse. I remember my first
primary care baby and now he is graduating from high school! I remember almost all
the steps I walked through to be a good neonatal caregiver in the United States.
Now I am retired.
45 year’s high stressed work
in both countries, I am glad that I did not make big mistakes. I cannot
complain. I always have good mentors, good coworkers around to support and
help. I am grateful all the people around me during these 45 years. They taught
me how to work, how to live and how to deal with every difficult situation. I
am grateful for that.
Now I am retired. A new chapter
of my life is starting. I am sure I will meet different people and I am ready
for that!
