Simple Q&A: about Ashoka care

  1.    Who you are? I am a registered nurse having over 30 years’ experience in healthcare setting. Have compassion for caring people.   2.    Why you are in business? Years ago, when my parents were at their 70 th , they need some help to safely staying home. Later, my father’s mental health declined and broke his hip, my mother could not do it all, so they need more help.   Tried to hire people to help but because personality conflicts, there were always problems. Parents did not want to go to any care facility in China due to poor quality of care. At the time, I started to want to build my own senior facility using my own idea in China. So many years past, now my parents are in a care facility which relatively acceptable and as myself getting older, I want a senior care facility I want to live in and thinking most seniors would have same feelings. My idea of senior care

 Problem 存在的问题 In the United States, Native Chinese-American  seniors hardly could find  their own cultural care, especially in Eugene-Springfield area. Some of the Chinese-American seniors do not or only speak little English. They are far away from their cultural familiar environment. When people getting older, their thought and taste goes back to the way they grow up with. They start to miss their homeland and native culture. Their children are busy with life and work. They do not have the time to be with their elderly parents, to talk to them. They do also need care! And the majority, if not all the senior care services in town only provide cares with English culture and language. Ashoka care is build to fill this gap. 来自中国的老年人在这里得不到具有他们传统文化特色的照顾。有些人甚至不会讲多少英文。而人在逐渐老去的过程中,往往怀念过去的时光,幼时的饮食和本土的文化。这种对故土的思念和本土文化的饥渴更让老去的时光更加难渡。而他们的孩子们成长在美国的文化和教育下,有自己忙碌的生活和工作,更是腾不出足够的时间和精力来照顾和陪伴年迈的父母。 现实所有的养老机构的照顾和养护都是美国文化和英文服务,这给侨居美国的华人带来很多的不便。...
